Danzig – Deth Red Sabaoth review

Danzig – Deth Red Sabaoth 2010 The End Records
Danzig returns with his first album in 6 years (if ya don’t count “The Lost Tracks” box set from 2007). Right from the first track “Hammer of the Gods”, Glenn belts his way through the album with ease. Sounding very comfortable with the material and his band – Tommy Victor (guitar), John Kelly (Drums). Glenn plays bass as well as piano & drums on “Black Candy”. The albums burns like a hot knife through butter and Glenn croons like no other on stand out tracks, “Rebel Spirts”, “Pyre of Souls”, “Seasons of Pain” & “Left Hand Rise Above” to name a few and has returned to the form that made him famous back in ‘88 (my fiance even likes it, so that’s gotta say someting). You just can’t help singin along to “Black Candy is so hard to find!” “Black Candy is so hard to find!!” If ya want to get picky, mixes are a little weird on a couple of songs, plus a few familar riffs (typical Danzig) and some of Tommy’s “close my eyes and pray it sounds good” solos are a bit overbearing sometimes but overall, AWSOME!! Hell, there’s not a dud in the bunch. Not saying the last couple of albums were bad (”I, Luciferi” was killer) but this is one of those albums that sounds like he should have done this a few years ago. To me, it was worth the wait.
