The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan
It only took 60 days for the entire world to come to an end as we now know it, And Guillermo Del Toro (director Hellboy Series and Pan’s Labyrinth) and Chuck Hogan, have given us a brand new re-imagining of the vampire mytho’s. And for my money, one that is much more entertaining, scary, and digestable. You wont find any cutesy, sparkely vampires in The Strain. And you can be happy for that…What will the end of the world look like? If it is anything like The Strain (Book 1 in a Trilogy) Your nothing but food, food for the undead, that within 60 days swallow the world whole. When Abraham Satrakian was a small child growing up in romaina, His granmother told him a story, of a man name Jusef Sardu, this is a name he would keep with him his entire life. now as an old man, he see’s strange happenings, and knows that the time has come for him to once again meet Jusef Sardu, something is beginning and Abraham know that it cannot be good..Set in The present day The Strain smacks of everything supernatural, everything Vampire and leads you down a new and horrifing road. An Airplane lands at JFK airport, it begins to taxi into off load it passangers, when it stops, it as if the entire plane is dead. Now out on the runway, things are shut down, flights are stopped, no incoming no outgoing, is it terrorist? 2 members of an eleite tactical unit for the US Goverment and there crew (The Canary Project) are brought in to find out what has happened, and from there…it is a wild roller coaster ride, things can only get worse and they do, Sardu is here…. The Strain is Book 1 of a Trilogy, The Fall Book 2 comes out on September 22nd 2010. And I cannot wait to get my hands on it! and with any lucky we will see co-authors Del Toro and Hogan bring this Triolgy to the Silver Screen! We have had our share of cutesy tootsie vampires, now , with any luck Del Toro will take this triology, and make movies that give us back our Vampires!!
The Strain is a must read for Horror fans, as well as Vampire fiends, and a great set of books to pick up, even if your just thinking about reading something.
